There are many people out there who are simply confused on which to use? Well i just felt like sharing this simple solution with you.

Twitter is unique on its own. Its basic concept is to keep your messages short & simple.It uses a maximum of 140 characters per message. Twitter is not for images to be shared or for videos to be embedded. Its simple as what can you send on a basic SMS is what twitter is. Besides that Twitter goes by just this saying , “What are you doing?” So having urls shorten or flickr images becoming links is not a lack of feature on Twitter because that is Twitter’s simplicity feature. This is what Twitter is all about.
I would recommend people to use twitter with your personal one’s, family and immediate friends to keep in touch with simplicity within 140 characters.

Use Pownce to publish your media. Pownce was created to send messages, files, links, and events to your friends. At the same time you could build a network of friends and chose who to publish your contents just like Twitter with all the privacy settings and so on.
It would be advisable to use Pownce as in to publish your media to your friends/fans.

There are more microblogging sites out there such as Jaiku & Tumblr. But each has their own identity if you could understand them. So choose your microblogging wisely and separate them to allow people to have an option to interact with you.

So Twitter from a mobile phone via SMS, or IM to get your messages out to your immediate family/friends.
Or use Pownce to publish your media.
