If you are an iTunes user on a windows platform , recently a routine update by Apple was released. In this update release, the Apple Software Update not only updating the iTunes but packaged with a BONUS update which is Safari 3.1.
As a default, the update has been checked to be install. If you were not aware you would be having another browser extra the next time you reboot. Well this fairly a new approach by Apple to push people on the Windows platform to use Safari. There’s been a lot of views reacting towards this act by Apple’s urge to catch up on the browser business.
Well certainly, other browser developers would not be happy with this approach. Though most of us Mac fans love Safari for its typical speed and uniqueness. One unhappy man now is John Lily, The CEO of Mozilla, the developers of Firefox. Below is a strip from John Lily’s Blog :
“What Apple is doing now with their Apple Software Update on Windows is wrong. It undermines the trust relationship great companies have with their customers, and that’s bad – not just for Apple, but for the security of the whole Web.”
John Lily as well added that this kind of practice is wrong and it undermines the safety of users and Apple should stop. Well there is an option to deselect the update and to me I believe its not a problem at all. People in the same industry of course would come up with statements such as by John Lily’s as its clearly a competitors views. But as a user, I don’t think anyone would make a fuss over this issue.
