Do you ever realize how much of “link-back” traffic you may be loosing all this years? I often come across blogspot comments that uses a google account as an ID. It’s fine. But the fact is, it’s very annoying.
Why? Because as a common due, we would aspect it to redirect to the commenters site/blog but it does not. All it does is to direct you to the commenters blogger profile. Now that’s annoying, and out of frustration I might just shut the window/tab. Now how much of potential visitors, readers and subscribers are you missing out?
The simple solution to this is already built-in on the blogspot comment system. Instead of choosing a Google/Blogger ID, opt for the Name/URL option. Have your desired name and blog URL posted. Now enjoy an amount of traffic that you missed, over the years.

Update : I just noticed that many blogspot, blog authors do not turn on the Name/URL option as like in below. Now this could really have affects on both sides. First it may turn me off from commenting, as there are no link-bank options. Second, you might loose dedicated readers(blog authors on blogspot of course).

Tags: best time to blog, busy, hope, saran, time, workDo you really know your readers that well? Do you think they care about you? Well think again. The only reason a reader is going to stay at your site is to gain some knowledge.
Reality of social media is such. It’s a materialistic world and you get nothing if you do not give something. That’s basically a social media ethic. I would like to just point out a couple of things on photoblog’s and personal blogs.
This article is intended for people who would like to increase their readership. If you are happy by just doing what you are doing currently, that’s fine. This is a suggestion for those who needs it.
How is a blog different from a Photoblog?
The truth is, there is no difference. You are just mixing two things. A gallery and a blog merged, a photoblog is born. A blog is generally made up of a post that contains text, pictures or videos. Why do you want to do that, when you have social media tools such as Flickr? Flickr is a social tool for you to share moment’s of life with friends and the general public. You even have options to tag it or even receive comments.
What would a general blog reader feel?
A general blog reader like me for instance, would not want to just see your life on your blog all the time. Over a period, I might get completely fed-up. Well, if it was a super star, then it is a different case. I would expect some great value on your blog that you could provide me. Pictures may inspire, but how long? I rather follow your flickr streams or your posterity streams to view your recent shots.
A purpose of a blog is to make it your base. Drive people back and front to it. If you were to publish your life streams, we have Flickr, twitter, plurk, pownce…. endless. Send readers to those media streams and let the crowd of those streams find their way to your blog. Applies the same for returning crowds that you sent.
A blog is also your marketing tool. Of what you really are. Do not mess it up by stuffing up the “wrong things at the wrong place”. Did I make sense? Highlighting from time to time about your self, something really personal that you would like to share or grabbing a picture out of your flickr stream and to tell a story about it is all fine. You could do this 1 out of 10 post. It would even give a nice twist of lemon on your tea. But the idea of converting a blog completely into an image gallery, freaks me out. If you are being different on your images it’s okay. What I really would freak out would be, pictures of just your daily routine. A complete Flickr on a Blog.
So what should a photoblog have?

A real photoblog would be, a blog’s plot that is driven by photo’s. Something related to a specific profession as your posterity. I would like to stress again, that I’m only saying it’s wrong to mix personal photo’s on a photoblog. A photoblog has a niche. Just like any other regular blog. You could be a skilled skyscraper photographer. You may want to publish your work as posterity. Now that’s what we call a photoblog. I hope you could now differentiate a real photoblog then a “personal photo photoblog”
The real important issue for personal bloggers?…
Well the point I’m stretching is that people want a value in reading materials. Something they could ponder at. When we post a personal related post, try to at least provide a simple value to the reader. Content that would open eyes. That’s what we need. Opinions that matters. Some would say that no one care’s about our opinions, but it actually does if it’s eye opening. Are you conveying a hidden truth? Are you providing an extra tip ? This are questions to be asked when you give an opinion or simply write about your self. Do not brag about your self on what you know or what you do!
Well I hope I made you to ponder or at least made some sense. You do not have to be formal on what you do. Blog on things that you know you can. Do not fake out things you don’t know or not to sure about. To be honest, I do write about my self at random but a rule I practice is to have a lesson in it or something to ponder at.
Now, if you were really into photoblogging or videoblogging and hence you have some really good skills, Do come back soon as I would share some tips on growing your photoblog’s and videoblog’s authority. There is also another rule on the social web. “New Things Live”. Let’s see what we could actually try. The Aim is to keep things personal as you wish but to retain a value/knowledge on it while keeping readers on your mind.

Tags: blog, ethics, flickr, photoblog, social media strategyHave you come across people who claim to be extremely good without even performing anything? Recently I came across various so called online marketers who claimed to know everything from SEO’s to Social Media.
But I’m freaking frustrated when you actually dive in deeper to their blog, it plains rubbish. The same old thing! And in each blog post, its all about “How Great Am I”. I’m not criticizing anyone here and matter of fact there are marketers out there who really do provide a value.
I’m happy or rather to be proud of my stand towards my ethics on Social Media. Well, it’s not to boast about me but it’s how important it is to provide a value. Keeping things creative and innovative is what a social media ethical person should do.
At this moment, I would like to show my gratitude to Chris Brogan who opened up my mind towards looking beyond social media.
Besides the zero value post, what’s with the over clustered space? There’s not much of a space to breathe on. I could not navigate through the blog. It was rather confusing.
At this point, do they really know their readers? As a reader, I need to be pointed towards the right directions and that would be my first impressions on you and your blog. If your navigation sucks, you are directly putting your blog into a risk.
When providing a content, think from the point of user. Would he or she learn anything from this? Would he or she be able to read my post with no distractions? Would he or she be able to move freely around my design? Are my user options at the right place?
Hope that clears up your thoughts and for newbies, take all the points said above to count and do start implementing it on your media/content creation.

Tags: chris brogan, Design, Marketing, social media strategy, subscribersWell, if anyone who is not familiar with the term “Batch Processing”, it simply means on grouping work on a specific range of time. For example, to reply all phone calls I received over the week on a particular day.
After reading some author’s attempts on batch work, I decided to take it on and opt for the best. What am I using it for?
Well, simply this blog post. Matter of fact all the post that you have been reading all week long. It’s prescheduled. The art of batch work on blogging is pretty simple and straight forward. All you do is to set a day, and attempt to write as many post you could for the upcoming week or month. The max I could go would be to cover the following week with content. This is then archived with schedules.
It has given quite a number of benefit to me I would day. First of all it’s future prove. I do not have to worry about writing daily. That helps when you suddenly encounter unexpected chore or assignments in a day that requires more time then you thought. To keep a flow running it does help. A good motivator. It has sort of improved my time management skills.
Often when you have something good, there tends to be a down side for it. Batch work on blogging would not help if you are on a newsy niche which requires daily attention on moving updates. Besides it may burn you out. Even though you are darn free on a particular day, over writing might lead to a burn out. That’s not good.
Is there a possible way to overcome burnout’s?
Well I guess there is a simple way. Instead of selecting a single day, why not spread it over a few. This is what I practice. I start writing and archiving post from Friday night’s to Sunday evening’s. I split it up on when ever it is possible to write. I make sure I cover postings from Monday to Friday. On Saturday’s and Sunday’s I have a newsy post that requires to post on that day it self.
Pre-Plan, see the week ahead.
What if a particular week I was all booked for an event or something similar. Well, the best way is to forecast. If you sense that a tight weekend over the following week, try to write more on the previous week. In my case, probably I would write 10 post over the weekend this week instead of just 5 post. By the way, it’s never a harm to find free times over the weekdays it self and slowly gather a good amount of post. Attempt and find which way suits you the best. To me, I always try to make my life easier on Week day’s.
