Im still skeptical over the issue that Rajnikanth did not attend the grand audio launch function for Dasavathaaram. Why would someone with such heavy magnitude of fame would not want to participate in such functions ?

Besides all hyped Jackie Chan, big time indian celebrities such as Amitabh Bachan was present. Rajnikanth gave an excuse by saying he was busy with Kuseelan’s shooting. Common, it’s your good friend’s movie’s audio event !

Is there some sort of rival currently within the two actors ? 

There’s been lots of stories regarding this audio launch. Even silly press people did not leave Jackie Chan alone by saying ridiculous stuff such as he brought his own chef, did not greet other actors and refused to eat indian food or drink india mineral water. I loved the fireback blog post by Jackie himself that slammed this irresponsible act of the press.
