I have been running this Wordpress powered blog for more then 2 years now. Over the years I build up a small yet returning readership. But lately I realised I have done many mistakes on the blog which did not increase my traffic. But since I was not worried about hits as I blogged with no site tweaks or so.

Though it did not stop me from writing, Recently I decided to make some tweaks to make the site more user friendly, well I am glad to say I see an improvement. So just for your informations, here’s a list of Don’ts with your blogs. 

  • Abandon the power of Feedburner and not use them to redirect your feeds
  • Fail to give email subscriptions as an options to readers.
  • Fail to give suggestions such as related post on every single post, which would encourage more readership.
  • Ignore SEO status and optimizations. 
  • Not providing relevant advertisements. 
  • Ignoring consistency in blogging. 

Besides all this, many bloggers would say to always stick to a particular niche. In my case, I would say forget about it if you run your own personal opinions and lifestyle blog. Thats what I do here. I have told in a few post before. If you want your own centralized blog with all your lifestreams on it, then forget about niches. Just be happy with what you can say, try to be consistent and build a readership.
